1935:
The second White Castle, Douglas & Hillside. Fast-food
visionary Walter Anderson, White Castle founder, pioneered
the concept of opening numerous identical-looking shops
in many locations. The company would later move its headquarters
out of state, and today there are none in Kansas. Numerous
businesses and buildings have occupied this site over the
years; recently a Kentucky Fried Chicken was demolished
to make way for this check cashing center.
