1937: Innes Department Store, Broadway & William. In 1927, after 30 years in business, the George Innes Dry Goods Company moved to this new six-story building. By the mid-1950s, Innes had gone out of business and the store was operated by Macy's, until that company's bankruptcy and reorganization. The State of Kansas now owns this building.
