1972:
200 block of South Broadway. Lined
with stores, restaurants and offices, the first two blocks
of Broadway south of Douglas comprised a vital stretch of
downtown in its day. Visible in the above left photo are
Macy's, the Fairland Cafe, the McClellan Hotel, Dial Finance,
the Blood Plasma Donor Center and the Petroleum Building.
Today the east side of Broadway is entirely unoccupied on
these two blocks, as the Union National Bank and Henry's
buildings are empty and the Allis Hotel has been demolished.
