19. I have since childhood adored David Bowie, but never heard my favorite album — "Hunky Dory" — until the early '90s. Though known for his wild experimentation, I always return to this LP, which I consider his purest work: the songs uniformly excellent, simply arranged and played by a truly amazing band (featuring Rick Wakeman of Yes playing gorgeous piano throughout). This copy was completely worn out when I found it, and I have put many miles on it since. Bowie's life and work remain hugely inspirational to me.
